WHAT DO YOU DO?

Writer, Founder, & Host of I Was Just Saying That

ISAgGrX_4AGroUvqnAX7TCKRe-jQBdIrNEoa38Lm5QYTELL US ABOUT YOUR INTERIOR STYLE & WHAT INFLUENCED IT:

I think it would be considered eclectic, but honestly, I think I’m still figuring it out. I’m always drawn to vintage pieces or volunteer to take the piece that’s been in the family for years. I believe a home should remind you of where you came from, so I have old photos sprinkled around the house. If it has a story, I’ll take it.

mjp_1YOU RUN A PODCAST! TELL US ALL ABOUT IT:

Growing up, I secretly wanted to be in radio, and I think that idea was fostered by the lovely compliments I’ve received over the years about my voice. And when podcasts became more popular, I dabbled with the idea. Then one day a friend told me she was on a run and thought she’d rather be listening to a show hosted by me. So I took that as a sign to just do it already.

The podcast is called I Was Just Saying That, and it’s basically me chatting with funny, talented women about everything from career to pop-culture. The show is for any gal that wants to just let loose and laugh a little. Think happy hour with your girlfriends, after one or two drinks… Needless to say, it’s a good time.

unspecifiedWHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF YOUR SPACE?

I think I enjoy my vanity/reading nook. I intend to read many books there—even though my dog has claimed the chair has his own. The vanity was my Nana’s, and I have fond memories of her putting her makeup on there.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE BIGGEST DECORATING CHALLENGE?

Our home is a rental, which means we can only do so much to make it our own. It’s also so, so dark. Natural light? What’s that?

mjp_2WHAT’S NEXT ON YOUR DECORATING LIST?

I’m not sure I’ll ever be 100% satisfied, but I’m currently working on making our guest room have a little space for me to work on iwasjustsayingthat.com. I feel like every boss lady needs her own command center.

WE LOVE A GOOD ENTERTAINING TIP, WHAT IS ONE YOU SWEAR BY?

I’m a novice home entertainer, but one thing I learned the hard way is that when someone asks you if they can help you prepare for your get-together, you say yes.
