SIMPLE BRAIDED UPSTYLE perfect for spring

image6.JPGHi friends! Breann here. Are you as excited about Spring finally being here as much as I am? There’s just something about the welcoming of warmer weather that has me itching for cold drinks, throwing the windows open, and enjoying meals on the porch. It also has me embracing loose, romantic hairstyles to accompany said outdoor meals that hopefully include candles and some slow John Mayer tunes. (Hint, hint husband!) This simple French braid upstyle is perfect for those second day curls that have fallen a bit loose and messy.

Start with curled hair that’s been prepped with a texturizing spray, and tease just slightly at the back of the crown. Make sure to smooth the top.

Begin a French braid just an inch or so south of where you teased the hair. Leave a few loose pieces surrounding your face for some soft framing.

Tie off with a clear elastic, then gently pull the braided strands for the braid to appear more full.

Lastly, take the end of the braid and tuck it under to the nape of your neck. Secure with a few bobby pins as necessary, then finish off with a firm hold hairspray.

IMG_1049Between wedding magazines, Pinterest boards, and suggestions from your friends, planning a wedding has become a full time job – even with the help of a planner! Thankfully, there is this amazing platform called that helps with the process immensely! Drawing inspiration from their wedding dress feature, Breann created the most amazing wedding day look! We were immediately drawn to this gorgeous, romantic piece. The gorgeous trumpet silhouette and delicate lace perfectly spell out what it means to be a classic bride.UntitledIMG_1051When creating this bridal look, I wanted something romantic and ethereal. I was super inspired by the classic shape of the dress and wanted to go for an upscale glam look but instead of dark, smokey eyes, play on the youthful waistline and create a fresh face and shimmery eye.  My makeup inspiration immediately came from Interstellar actress, Jessica Chastain. Every time she’s on the red carpet, she glows.

I wanted to compliment the material of the gown and go for a dewy skin and flirty lip. Sonia Kashkuk’s Perfecting Illuminating liquid foundation does the trick. A light sweep of this blush bronzer duo tops my face off with the perfect amount of color – a blushing bride, if you will. We kept it simple on the eyes, nothing too heavy. False eyelashes create a focal point, and the light use of cream eyeliner compliments them perfectly. Finally, this YSL lipgloss finishes off the look. The coral pink color perfectly compliments any skin tone, and because it’s a lighter, it reduces the need for constant touch-ups like a berry or red lip color would.

IMG_1053  IMG_1052When it came to the hair, I wanted to keep in the same line of a classic bride. French twists have been a bridal staple for decades. I opted for a looser version, and added my own twist by creating a dutch braid on one side. What’s great about this style is it can be accomplished with long or short hair, and all you need are a handful of bobby pins and some hair spray. It can be beautifully topped off with a hair accessory like an antique clip, flower cluster, or a veil with a comb can slide right on top. Untitled 3
